Section Three – Duties of the Student Council Officers
Duties that are divided up at the start of the year: Social Media, Clipper Kudos awards, school wide presentations, etc.
For class officers positions - please contact your class sponsor for specifics.
- SCA President:
- To execute the constitution to the best of his or her ability
- To call and preside over all SCA meetings and assemblies
- To create, in advance, an agenda for all SCA & Executive Board meetings, to be approved by the SCA Advisor(s)
- To direct and maintain, in coordination with all officers of the SCA, communication with the student body on the current activities concerning the school
- To vote on Executive Board voting matters only in the event of a tie
- To represent the student body and serve on the Student Council
- To oversee all SCA projects, activities, and committees and act as a liaison between all SCA committees
- To participate in leadership training as directed by the Advisor(s)
- SCA First Vice-President:
- To have the executive power bestowed upon him or her in the event of the President’s absence or inability to serve
- To become President in the event that President’s position becomes vacant for the remainder of the current President’s elected term
- To represent the student body and serve on the Student Council
- To coordinate and oversee all SCA community service projects
- To participate in leadership training as directed by the Advisor(s)
- SCA Second Vice-President:
- To oversee and coordinate all SCA fundraising activities, delegating specific responsibilities as seen fit by the Second Vice-President and SCA Advisor(s)
- To maintain accurate records of all SCA assets and their location
- To present a financial report at SCA and Executive Board meetings, when requested by the SCA President or Advisor(s)
- To represent the body and serve on the Student Council
- To participate in leadership training as directed by the Advisor(s)
- SCA Parliamentarian:
- To maintain order at all Student Council and Executive Board meetings, using Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised as appropriate
- To chair the committee that annually reviews the constitution
- To oversee elections of officers
- To represent the body and serve on the Student Council
- To participate in leadership training as directed by the Advisor(s),
- SCA Recording Secretary:
- To record the proceedings of all Student Council and Executive Board meetings unless waived by the President and SCA Advisor(s)
- To make available a written copy of the minutes of the previous meetings to all SCA members before the commencement of the next meeting, unless waived by the President and SCA Advisor(s)
- To take roll at all meetings of the Student Council and Executive Board and to maintain accurate attendance records of elected officers and active members
- To maintain the SCA filing system which includes a record of all meetings, agendas, policies, resolutions, constitution and by-laws, correspondence, proposals, activity reports, and other materials deemed valuable
- To maintain records used to identify active members according to a point system
- To represent the body and serve on the Student Council
- To participate in leadership training as directed by the Advisor(s)
- SCA Corresponding Secretary:
- To be responsible for all official correspondence of the Student Council Association under the direction of the President or SCA Advisor
- To fulfill the duties of the SCA Recording Secretary upon his or her absence
- To oversee the publicity of all SCA meetings and activities
- To oversee the maintenance of an SCA presence on the Grafton High School Website (as deemed appropriate) and a history of the activities of the SCA in visual and/or textual format(s)
- Maintain a frequently updated SCA Bulletin Board located in the Senior Lounge
- To represent the body and serve on the Student Council
- To participate in leadership training as directed by the Advisor(s)
